
Inpatient Rehabilitation Scope of Services
Eligibility & Services
The inpatient rehabilitation program at St. Luke's Rehabilitation Hospital in Boise accepts all patients who meet defined admission criteria, ages 14 and above, that do not require ventilation assistance. The program is not able to accept patients between the ages of 14-18 that are under 40 kg.
Patients must demonstrate a need for assistance in executing functional activities and require services from at least two therapy disciplines (PT, OT and SLP), be capable of tolerating 3 hours of therapy a day, and must exhibit the ability to make functional improvement with therapy. Intended discharge environments are to the patient’s home/community setting.

For spinal cord injuries, our inpatient rehabilitation unit admits and serves:
- People with traumatic or non-traumatic spinal cord injuries
- People with complete or incomplete spinal cord injuries
- Not SCI level specific, but those not requiring mechanical ventilation or with tracheostomies
- People with comorbidities that do not impact the patient’s ability to be medically able to participate in their rehabilitation program
Referral Sources
We accept patients based on physician referral(s) from acute inpatient hospitals, critical access hospitals, long-term acute care hospitals, physician offices, home health, and skilled nursing facilities.

Environment of Care
Rehabilitation Treatment Areas
Our rehabilitation treatment takes place in group treatment areas/therapy gym(s), private treatment rooms, quiet rooms for rest/low stimulation, and organized outdoor areas.
Additional Common Areas
Our hospital also offers a first floor gym, pool, and multiple dining rooms.
Community Resources
Community resources available for outings, transition, and supplementary programs include local community areas, public transportation, and parks.
Availability and Cost Considerations
This facility provides care to admitted patients 24-hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Therapy services are available seven days a week and patients are expected to participate at a minimum of five days a week for three hours each day.
- Physician services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
- Nursing services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
