Pediatric Inpatient Rehabilitation
Helping Little Patients Make Big Strides
Children who are admitted to the hospital due to illness, surgery or an accident may need rehabilitative care during their hospitalization. St. Luke’s Children’s has a team of pediatric physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech and language pathologists who can evaluate and treat your child. With a physician’s direction, a pediatric therapist will evaluate and offer immediate treatment while collaborating with the medical team at St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital.

Your Child's Hospital Stay
A pediatric rehabilitation team member may see your child in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), mother and baby unit, pediatric unit, pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), or pediatric inpatient rehabilitation unit (IRU). St. Luke’s inpatient rehabilitation therapists are specially trained to work with trauma, oncology, neurosurgery, orthopedic, general surgery, and hospital-based patients.
The inpatient rehabilitation team works closely with ancillary staff and medical team members to provide the highest standard of care for immediate intervention and transition of care for ongoing needs. We will work with you and your child to determine the appropriate solution for continued services, if needed, and provide the collaboration and scheduling for seamless care.
